Many people notice modest weight loss. This effect comes from several factors. Metformin may influence appetite centers in the brain. It can also change the gut microbiome. These changes support better weight control over time.

In clinical observations, patients taking metformin often show reduced waist size and improved cholesterol levels. These factors lower the risk of frailty and metabolic disease.
