An experienced OB/GYN, Dr. Tara Neubert Kumaraswami holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Medical School in Worcester and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Following her residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology through the UMass Medical School she completed her fellowship in Family Planning through the University of Illinois at the Chicago College of Medicine while earneing a Masters in Public Health from the University of Illinois. Dr. Tara Neubert Kumaraswami served two years as a clinical instructor with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine before returning to her UMass Medical School alma mater as an assistant professor.

UMass courses conducted by Dr. Tara Neubert Kumaraswami include “Healthcare of the Transgender Patient” and “Healthcare of the LGBT Patient Population.” She also speaks on caring for lesbian patients and their families as part of the Women's Health Lecture Series. Her accomplishments at UMass include winning the Golden Apple Teaching Award from third-year medical students each year from 2015 to 2018. She loves getting to know her patients and truly cares for them.

In addition to instructing UMass medical students and residents, Dr. Kumaraswami directs both the UMass Obstetrics/Gynecology Residency Program and the UMass Ryan Residency Program. She also sits on the UMass Medical School PhD committee.

Dr. Kumaraswami enjoys hiking and gardening in her spare time.
