Un absceso dental es una acumulación de material infectado (pus) en el centro de un diente. Es causada por una infección bacteriana. La infección generalmente es causada por caries, enfermedad periodontal o un diente roto. Estos pueden permitir que las bacterias entren en la pulpa (el tejido blando de un diente que contiene nervios, vasos sanguíneos y tejido conectivo).
